Canon PowerShot SD500: Perpetually Perfecting Pictures

Although its resembles its predecessors in size, the new Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Camera takes a great leap with its “Perpetual Curve Design,” that gives a smooth and comfortable feel in the hands.

The retractable lens, smooth front panel, and pocket-friendly, durable body, the Canon SD500 Digital Recorder is one of the most convenient point-and-shoot digital camera. Capturing an image with its 7.1-megapixel CCD, high quality images can even be used for enlarging images to as big as 11×17 inches or 8×10 inches.

Aperture is set automatically but the maximum setting ranges from f/2.8 to f/4.9 at full telephoto. Focus ranges between 1.6 feet and 2.0 inches in normal AF mode and 2.0 inches to 1.6 feet in Macro mode.

The Canon SD500 Digital Camera also has a nine-point AiAF (Artificial Intelligence Autofocus) system that makes focusing easier by calculating the focal distance. Built-in AFF assist light helps the focus mechanism in low light when it’s enabled through the menu option.

The camera also provides a real-image optical viewfinder when composing images although the LCD does not include exposure information like aperture and shutter speed. There’s a new but rather unusual feature on the Canon SD500 though.

In the “My Colors” mode located in the Function menu, the following settings are available: Vivid Red, Color Accent, Color Swap, Custom Color, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Vivid Green, Vivid Blue, and Darker Skin Tone. Combining old and new features have never been this efficient.

Nikon D80: Better Than Its Predecessor

Those who can’t afford to buy Nikon D200 turn to Nikon D80 Digital Camera for a consolation.
